When will we see this list updated for the 2012 season? I was watching C. J. Wilson pitch today for the Angels and didn’t realize he was ABL alumni until I looked at the names/teams more closely. Also, is there a list of former Major League players that are ABL alumni, other than just notable players?

Hey Michael! Right on about CJ.

Anyway, the short answer is that I will do a 100% update sometime in May.

The long answer: I’m about a year and a month away from completing my bachelor’s degree and working at the same time. It really monopolizes my time from August-April. I mostly just try and post whenever I get some free time during the off-season (which is nearly never) and go full-bore during the summer. So after finals week, the first week of May, I’m going to do a LOT of catching-up on this blog in anticipation of the 2012 season. The Alumni list is a high priority since it hasn’t had a full update since the end of last season (I’ve made a few updates to it here and there but not gone through the whole list at once). Sorry it’s so out of date, I’m just trying to pass all my classes and hold down my job so I can enjoy the summer at the ballpark.

Also about that time I’ll be pumping out articles related to the upcoming MLB draft, so if you want to get an idea of who the next CJ Wilson might be, stay tuned for that.

Fair enough. Your college comes first. If you want, I can send you updates as I recognize them. C. J. is pitching for LAA right now.

I appreciate it. I am more or less aware of all the major league guys but any tips make the job easier, especially if there’s any trades/FA signings…or anyone I haven’t added to the list yet. The minor league guys — especially independent ones — are also hard to track sometimes. I have a method of finding everyone but it’s time consuming. But yeah if you feel like dropping me a comment by all means go ahead.

I’ve worked a little bit on making the process easier by writing some software so I just have to type the info in boxes and hit submit. So I’m hoping once I get a chunk of spare time I can just blaze through them all at once.
