A few years back there were rumors or the ABL joining with a couple of western summer leagues for a combined championship and I even heard a rumor from a coach that there were talks of merger. Obviously it hasn’t happened but it has been explored. The obstacle I see is travel. That’s probably the #1 hurdle to the nbc and it’s inherent in any national tournament.

The NBC has gone sour in recent years, so I am told. Perhaps a playoff with the ABL, Cape Cod, Northwoods, MINK and other league(s) might be interesting. It probably won’t fly with Cape Cod, but why not see who would be interested?

I suppose a better way to state my point is that this way there is the potential to pick the “cream of the crop” without being constrained by the need to make sure the teams are equitably represented. I agree that Wilson and Rhame had great seasons and are deserving of selection, although I am completely and totally sidestepping the question of who “shouldn’t” have been selected. That is for the rest of you to debate…

I don’t agree that the “cream of the crop” were chosen for the first and second team. In the pitcher catagory both Wilson and Rhame were passed up in favor of Doucette and Teakell. It makes a guy wonder what else goes into the selection process other that performance.
